Zillow Gets Google Webmaster (secrets?)
Ms. Vanessa Fox is soon to be EX “Product Manager, Google Webmaster Central.” Web real estate play Zillow is to be the lucky new employer.
While Fox is looking forward to the “unique challenges of the vertical and local search space,” she is being feted in the blogosphere as “the person to whom Webmasters owe the greatest debt of gratitude,” really.
YES, a Google employee charged with policing Google SERPs is somehow deemed to be “owed a debt of gratitude” from the millions of Websites that Google obtains cost-free content from so it can sell billions of dollars worth of advertising against.

Google SERP love is indeed hard to shake.
What will Fox be “shaking,” though, for her new “vertical and local search” employer? After all, who knows bettter than the chief Google Webmaster liason how to “work” successfully with Google, to get into Google’s good ranking graces.
At the very minimum, Fox will undoubtedly be able to troubleshoot with anyone at Google at anytime, on behalf of Zillow, Zillow’s SEO concerns that is.
What Google “secrets” does Fox know? Even if she is bound by a non-disclosure, her innate knowledge can not be locked up. It is inevitable that Zillow gains insider knowledge of Google’s inner Webmaster sanctum.
PREDICTION: Zillow will shoot up in Google SERP rankings shortly after Ms. Fox goes from Googler to Zillower!
Zillow may be “Your edge in real estate, ” BUT ex Google Webmaster Fox will be Zillow’s edge in Google SEO “goodness.”
