WikiYou to Aaron Cohen: ‘YOU Screwed Over BOLT! Not once but twice!’
Has Bolt.com veteran Aaron Cohen gone from one Internet property mired in UGC controversy to another prospective Web magnet for user misbehavior: WikiYou?
Judging from Cohen’s own “bio” at his new venture, he may just be in for another wild Web ride!
Bolt.com is history. Bolt has “ceased” operations and its creditors are being redirected to a third party advisor of “secured and unsecured creditors.”
Last Februrary, Cohen believed he was on track to save Bolt; I spoke with him upon his announcement of 1) a GoFish agreement to acquire Bolt and 2) an impending copyright infringement settlement with Universal Music.
Cohen told me 2007 “will be the year in which the Internet community and traditional copyright holders find economic partnerships that are mutually beneficial.”
Perhaps, but Cohen was unable to find such financial harmony for Bolt, after all; His turnaround vision unraveled.
Cohen and partner Jay Gould have turned their entrepreneurial attention to WikiYou, billed as “the unauthorized biography of every person on earth.”
The WikiYou “value proposition”:
WikiYou values the opinions and views of every person. We believe there should be a biography for every person on earth, regardless if there have been “reliable” or “verifiable” sources for that person.
WikiYou prides itself on its “collaborative autobiography” structure.
Cohen is apparently practicing what he WikiYou preaches. HIS WikiYou bio notes:
YOU Screwed over BOLT! Not once but twice.
Reliable, verifiable collaborative assessment of Aaron Cohen?
WikiYou touts it “allows everyone to openly and freely write about each other.”
How do you know the bio information is accurate, WikiYou asks and answers:
The information is as accurate as the people who edit it.
THAT explains it!
