Blodget & Ryan: Cool, or Suck? WHAT Silicon Alley ‘Insider’!

Has Henry Blodget really gone from an “Internet Outsider” to a lead “Silicon Valley Insider” at the new Kevin Ryan backed media play? NOT if his–or those of his “real journalist” colleagues–blog posts are to be the benchmarks!
Just last week, team Ryan-Blodget promised Alley shock and awe when they strutted their stuff at Scott Heiferman’s NY Tech Meetup. After all, Mary Meeker may still be beholden to (welcome on) Wall Street, but Blodget is a free (but admonished) agent.
“Silicon Alley Insider” RESULT? This morning’s third-party, deriviative blogging link-out fest is representative of the non-original, ”news aggregation” shot-gun posts that comprise the “Silicon Alley Insider,” aka standard, run-of-the-mill, (almost) anyone can do it, blog fare.
Blodget and Ryan promised the NYC tech community ”real journalism” from managing editor Peter Kafka, a Forbes veteran. Blodget didn’t say when the real journalism would start though. Kafka this morning:
“Facebook Gears Up for Huge Investment Round” The Kafka story: “Kara Swisher’s sources say…”
“Disney’s ABC: Take My Shows, Please!” The Kafka story: “Mediaweek reports ABC is talking to everyone…” (via paidContent)
What about the Outsider himself, supposedly now turned Insider, Henry Blodget? The ex-bubble cheerleader of AMZN glory starts the day with his own catchy headline phrase, based on original reporting done by real reporters, at the New York Post:
“Economy (and Online Ads?) to Hell in Handbasket” The Blodget story: “The New York Post brings us more encouraging news about the economy…” and Blodget uses three New York Posts reports to make his “insider” point.
The Blodget via New York Post morning wakeup call follows his evening signoff yesterday: A record breaking three word post, that required two sources for composition: “Boston.com via Valleywag.”
SO THE HENRY BLODGET & KEVIN RYAN “SILICON ALLEY INSIDER”: Cool, or Sucks?
After all, Blodget “hates it when wussy analysts pussyfoot around.” He therefore has once again simplified things with a new, proprietary “company rating system”:
1) Companies that are cool,
2) Companies that suck.
Of note: Blodget gives a shout out to Gawker Media as a company that is cool. Wonder why, Valleywag?
