FB Fund: Facebook VCs Divide and Conquer F8 Application Developers

fb91807.gifAll hail the benevolent Mark Zuckerberg? And the VCs that are bankrolling his latest attempt at Web domination?

After all, who would dare argue with Founders Fund and Accel Partners “generous” offer to dole out packets of $25,000 to $250,000 as non-recourse grants to hackers eager to create applications for Zuckerberg’s F8?

Any entrepreneur that is NOT keen on “building their business on Facebook Platform”!

Others might very well argue as well, such as: EXISTING FACEBOOK APPS AND THOSE REJECTED BY FB GRANT LOVE!

Zuckerberg and his VCs have devised an ingenious way to lock-in developers to the Facebook version of the Web while building the IPO value of Facebook. In so doing, however, they have set the Facebook stage for a two-tier F8 Application ecosystem: The favored FB VC elite versus blue-collar do-it-all-on-your-own Apps!

After all, Zuckerberg and Company will be motivated to spread just a little extra Facebook love on those F8 Apps that they have money riding on, likely at the expense of Facebook Apps not deemed worthy of FB Fund endorsement.

The more Facebook “opens up,” the more Mark Zuckerberg reveals his ultimate endgame: ALL WEB BUSINESSES ARE TO BE FACEBOOK BUSINESSES!
