Nick Carr Comes To His Senses: Goodbye Google AdSense!

I have long underscored the ”silliness” of well to do technology personalities marring the integrity of their personal blogs with blue-collar, low-brow, low-rent, turnkey AdSense for blogging dollars (pennies) fuel.

Nick “Does IT Matter” Carr has finally come to his senses!

How about Paul “Infectious Greed” Kedrosky or  Fred “A VC” Wilson or Jeff “Buzz Machine” Jarvis though?

Whether the AdSense not quite bounty goes in their own already well lined pockets, or the coffers of so-called “good causes,” the Googley AdSense machine does NOT enhance the words of “smart money.”

Carr advised last week: “I have ceased running AdSense ads on this blog. They were ineffectual and often silly.”

SILLY? A rare Carr understatement!

As I pointed out in August, Web 2.0 Sucks? NO! Google AdSense Does (sometimes), citing a Kedrosky AdSense implementation:

What did I learn at the Infectious Greed blog when I arrived there one fine Summer day to read about Kedrosky’s latest big money venture?

Trillions of dollars are at stake,
Cool techonology is on tap,
AND Web 2.0 Sucks!

The Kedrosky graphical implementation of Google AdSense results in the unfortunate LOUD call out that “Web 2.0 Sucks” which contradicts AND over powers Kedrosky’s call out to learn about the “confluence of money and technology” on the Web, at his own conference.

The prerequisite “Ads by Google” disclaimer may provide solace to “Infectious Greed” and a blogosphere that believes it needs Google to survive, but in the real editorial world, it does NOT defend against readers perceiving that “Web 2.0 Sucks” is the opinon of DR. Paul Kedrosky, and his new Web 2.0 conference.

Moreover, how smart is “smart money,” if it needs AdSense, and Feedburner!

As I noted in FeedBurner VC Smart Money on the Cheap: $4 CPM, is knowing “how to change the world” priceless? NO, it can actually be had at a bargain basement, junk rate of a mere $4 CPM!

Want to “ask the VC”? Ditto. Same for A VC, and even Feld’s thoughts can be bought for $4 per 1000. How about Paul Kedrosy? He’s NOT that greedy after all: $4 CPM to learn how NOT to business plan. Redeye VC? Josh Kopelman may be proud as a peacock that his First Round Capital portfolio company Mint.com pocketed an extra $50,000 thanks to Michael Arrington, Jason Calacanis, Ron Conway and TechCrunch40 friends, but that doesn’t mean HE does not also push for every $4 per thousand his “redeye” can garner.

Even the offiiclal words of Union Square Ventures itself can be bought at an affordable $4 CPM.

WELL, the musings of Nick Carr can no longer be had so cheaply! Just in the “nick” of time!

As he readies his next big blockbuster, “The  Big Switch,” which pays homage to Google, CARR SWITCHES GOOGLE OFF!
