LinkedIn: A New Facebook For Business, Thanks to Google?

The impending Google post Halloween social “trick (for Facebook) or treat (for the Web) ” is still an unknown, despite the “conversation” underway in the blogosphere.

Of particular interest is how LinkedIn aims to work with Google’s “Open Social” APIs. After all, there will supposedly be NO hamburger slinging at Reid Hoffman’s high-end “gated referral network.” What will there be then?

As I analyzed earlier today, Marc Andreessen envisages Google’s OpenSocial to unleash an immediate repurposing of existing Facebook Apps, which are, in fact, often of the hamburger slinging variety. Calls for modifying LinkedIn’s core professionals-only value propositon, via some “friends and family” love, have also surfaced.

Will LinkedIn stay true to its unique cause and steadfastly maintain executive-level decorum online, or will LinkedIn succumb to “open social” sharing is caring calls?

HOPEFULLY, LINKEDIN WILL NOT TURN INTO A FACEBOOK FOR BUSINESS AND THEREBY PRESERVE ITS PROFESSIONAL VALUE PROPOSITION, FOR THE SAKE OF LOYAL LINKEDIN USERS, AND ITS OWN LUCRATIVE, DIFFERENTIATED FUTURE!
