Local is Global: $134 billion in Yellow Pages, Classifieds and Internet Advertising, ILM REPORT

Why did the Kelsey Group CEO and Vice President take to the international roads together on a whirlwind global tour? Because local is global, to the tune of $134 billion in Yellow Pages, Classifieds and Internet advertising by 2011, according to Kelsey forecasts.

CEO Neal Polachek and VP Matt Booth made on-site visits to local media executives in Europe and Asia to get first hand takes on the challenges and opportunities of local abroad.

Conclusion? Local is a universal language. In other words, all local strategists ask themselves:

What is Google doing in local?

Is Yahoo back on track?

Are portals friends or foes?

Can Yellow Pages and Classifieds successfully integrate?

What are best practices for verticalizing and localizing?

Is mobile for real now?
